Downsizing is super hard, especially when you love each of your animals, but we had to make some serious changes to our herd in order to keep the goats safe.
Our males started fighting so bad we had daily blood loss and damaged property.
These boys were raised as brothers and did everything together, but the drive to be the main buck caused so many issues and injuries.
Today one of my cherished boys went to live at another farm where he will have plenty females for himself.
We will miss him here at Foortopia, but he went with two of our does so he’s not alone and has his own little family going to his new residence. I hope they love it and live long happy lives.
That being said, two more females will be retired from breeding and sent to live with previous herd mates that have also been retired from breeding. I have a friend who welcomes them to her farm where there are no males and lots of human kids to love on them.

That leaves me with a limited amount of females to breed. Babies from each season will be sold according to waitlist unless otherwise arranged ahead of time.

My goal is to have a smaller herd and less chaos.

This week has been a hard one at Foortopia.
Our Ellie girl lost her battle with cancer and went to heaven Friday evening. We made sure it was quick and she didn’t suffer.
IN her last months she had a secret miracle child, even when no one knew she was pregnant. Phoenix made it to 9 1/2 weeks with his momma by his side. We prayed she could raise him until he was weaned. It’s like her body knew he didn’t need her any longer and she stopped fighting.
He’s a plump love bug who looks uncanny to his momma.
RIP my sweet girl.
Blitzen and Phoenix keep your spirit alive and both miss you so much.
