We had a tornado watch here a few hours ago with high winds and rain and now we're checking the critters. All are well! Just a few houses got shoved around and temporary fences plowed over.

The girls found this beautiful Painted Lady in the chicken pasture with Grandma and decided to rescue her. 🐢 The tiny field Raptors sure are putting a hurting on the bugs and grass in this field. Soon they’ll have over a couple acres of roaming because Grandma (Ann Janson) dotes over them and says they need more and she keeps making it bigger. 😆

Hay hay hay! It’s currently sprinkling as Rob's mowing, the first field we did got rained on 3 times before we could pick it up, but “hay” were rolling! Forcast said no rain for this week, so we're going to get as much done as possible.

Happy Memorial Day!
We only have five more cows that need to calve!
We started about 30 days ago, so this will be a nice bunch of calves!
Probably should have dug out the phone before most of the cows disappeared over the hill, but at least some of the old gals hung around. 🤭

We found a baby painted lady trying to cross the road today on our way back from feeding the chickens on pasture. 🥰 She's so tiny! We normally only ever find baby snappers- finding her was like finding gold!

Happy Mother's Day! Calves are adding up over here, and we tagged another two today. This little guy was too cute not to get a picture with.

Surprise twins on the farm today! What a way to start calving season.

Mama is 13–14 years old, and if she’s telling us she doesn’t want to raise two, we’re going to listen.

We’ll separate one calf, get it started strong, and then sell it. Calves are bringing really good money right now, but more than anything, this is about doing right by mama and giving both calves the best chance to thrive.

So now we have a calf in the basement and Beth and Kaye named her Daisy. She drank a whole bottle of colostrum is 3 minutes flat and will be a great calf for someone.
