I’m sad to say that this year I’ve decided to not breed any of my does. I’m starting student teaching in January and goes clear through till April. I need to focus on getting this completed. I wouldn’t be able to put 100% into my goats and that’s not fair to them and their new kids. It’s a lot of work & so much goes into breeding, preparing & supporting them. I know people who have had the experience will understand. And those that haven’t had the experience well let’s just say that you have to be on your game for anything to happen. I’ve had many late nights pulling babies, bottle feeding 6 at one time, and caring for moms who lose & have complications. Student teaching is something I need to complete and do my best at. But I also want to be able to care for my herd. So this is for the best for everyone! Sometimes we have to do the hard things if we want to get to the good things. The girls won’t mind a break this year I’m sure anyways! 🐐💕

Cooler temps have hit which means the bucks are in rut & the girls are coming in and out of heat. And also means no more warmer mornings doing goat yoga. 🤪 We won’t start breeding till November as we don’t like kidding when we are deep in snow & below zero temps. So we will shoot for November/December breeding times for babies in early April and late May. It can still be pretty chilly during the first of April & we’ve been known to have snow on the ground then. But I don’t worry as much since we are well on our way out of the winter months. I have a few who I will retire this year due to their age and kidding difficulties they had last year. But I have at least 5 does that will be bred this year with our newest being mini Nubians! Super excited about that! Keep a lookout for 2024 kidding dates!!! Happy Fall!! 🐐🍁

Hard to believe we are gearing up for breeding season on the farm!!!

My first day off from subbing for a bit. Not complaining though! Cleaned up the buck barn this morning & let’s just say they are ripe already. 😂🥴

Bentley is just glad they waited till this week to gear up instead of the weekend we had his birthday party. 🤪 Girls are screaming down to the barn at them &&& you can smell them up a bit at the house. 😂 But it’s so worth it when you have all the sweet babes running around. And this year we will hopefully be raising mini Nubians!

Kidding may be later in the year since I’ll be student teaching start of the new year till school gets out. So looking for late May early June.

Just some throw backs of my kids holding kids. 😍😍

Hit me up for some sweet pets & wonderful 4H projects! Taking down names for Nigerian Dwarfs. We won’t be selling any mini Nubians unless we get all boys. But let me know they are the sweetest!! 🐐😍

Sky had been battling pink eye the last two weeks and lost complete sight out of her right eye. She was in rough shape for a bit and stopped eating. We were all pretty upset as we raised Sky on the bottle in our house. After many days of meds & pain management she can finally see again!!! She separated herself from everyone including us so she was moved to inside the barn out of the light. Thankfully it didn’t spread to everyone else or her baby. She didn’t care for me for a while but now is back to her normal self again and loving on everyone. Her right eye isn’t as blue as it once was but at least she can see! Rough part of owning livestock.

I had some cute company milking tonight. 😍

Unfortunately we are down to only milking one doe. My other doe has a sore teat & it needs to heal up before she will let me anywhere near her. And my other doe in milk is still feeding her babe but is also fighting pink eye. She is on the mend but we are keeping her stress free and off the stand.

We got 18 ounces of milk today. Gentry & I may expand our little business and may dabble in some lotions & possibly try out some shampoo bars. We will keep you updated on our progress on that.

Thank you all for the soap orders!!! We sold off three of our babies as well yesterday. So with that and your soap orders we have been able to order us a small pump for milking! My hands are about to cramp up and this pump will relieve a lot of that for us. Gentry is super excited to get the girls hooked up! We have two more babies going to their homes soon & then we won’t have anymore babes until next Spring. 😫 We currently have some larger bars drying. I will post scents as soon as I fill my other order.
