This week, we are excited to release our Helles Lager. This style evolved from the changing consumer demands of the late 19th century. As advancements in kilning barley allowed brewers to produce pale odorless malt, the popularity of light and smokeless beers soared. The conception of the Czech Pilsner in the mid-nineteenth century sparked a contagious demand among European consumers. Bavarian brewers met the challenge by creating their own versions of this new popular pale lager, and thus, Helles was born.
Named after the German word for "bright", Helles Lager soon became a permanent feature in taverns throughout Munich. As the decades come and go, innovative brewers routinely meet the challenge of producing beers that quench the desires of their beloved patrons. And out of these creative periods, we are blessed with fabulous new styles of beer. With this in mind, we present to you our newest batch of Helles. Born from demand and innovation, our Helles Lager is bright and fresh. We brewed it with premium German pale malt and Bavarian noble hops, then lagered for multiple weeks, resulting in a crisp and flavorful lager with notes of honeysuckle, pear, and bready malt.
