We are proud to grow Fraser fir Christmas trees to decorate your home for the holidays!

The FRASER fir, commonly misspelled, was named for John Fraser, a Scottish botanist who explored the Southern Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina in the late 1700's. It is a pyramid-shaped tree that reaches a maximum height of 80 feet and a trunk diameter of 1-1/2 feet. The FRASER fir represents over 96% of all trees grown in North Carolina as Christmas trees. 🌲

The FRASER fir grows naturally only in the Southern Appalachians, above 3,000 feet. The cool temperatures and excessive amounts of rainfall of the North Carolina High Country are what causes the Fraser fir to keep its needles throughout the Christmas season.

It has been so heartwarming to talk with so many of our customers who have been concerned for our area and our family and farm post-Helene. As I wrote earlier, our farm had very minimal damage, and we feel so fortunate. However, while parts of our Ashe County home are fully "back to normal", other areas and businesses in our towns are still recovering and rebuilding. So many of you have asked how to help. To support these efforts, at our retail lots, we will have donation boxes and a QR code for donations to the Ashe Advantage Project (501c3) which is providing grants to small businesses in our area that suffered damage in the storm. And, wherever you are, we ask everyone to buy a real tree or wreath to support all our NC farms. Our farms and small businesses need a successful holiday season to boost the economy in our mountain region. Thank you for your concern and continued prayers for our beloved home. With most grateful hearts! β€οΈπŸŒ²πŸ’šπŸŒ²

An update from the Honeycutt Farm...
Thank you to our customers and friends who have reached out with concern in the aftermath of Hurrincane Helene. Our family is safe and our homes were not damaged. We do have some downed hardwoods and some necessary road repair, but we feel so fortunate to have had minor damage. We have phone service and our power back on now! Our beloved Ashe County suffered tremendous damage on the north end of the county. However, our neighbors and friends in those communities are gritty and resilient and are laser focused on recovery and rebuilding. Kitty and Ashley's work with the Chamber of Commerce has put them in the midst of these efforts. The generosity of so many folks across the country sending supplies, monetary support, and prayers has been overwhelming and inspiring. Some of our beautiful towns such as West Jefferson, Jefferson, Grassy Creek and Glendale Springs are completely open for business and would love for you to visit.
We are preparing for our Christmas tree harvest season, so you will see us at our usual locations, Southern Village and North Chatham Village! We will open on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and are looking forward to seeing you! Kitty is just beginning to make calls to schedule delivery and set up appointments. So, if you usually work with her for this, you will hear from her soon. We have beautiful trees this year and are excited to have them decorate your home. We will have the freshest trees, beautiful wreaths and greenery, and the superb customer service you have come to expect. We appreciate your loyalty over the many years! Thank you for gathering around a Honeycutt Christmas tree for your holiday celebrations. 🌲We will see you soon!
Larry, Kitty, Ashley, Mark, and Biscuit

Ashe County Christmas Trees are the best, and a fresh Honeycutt Christmas tree is the right one for you! 🌲🌲🌲

Real Christmas trees are more environmentally friendly than artificial ones for many reasons. Here’s some reasons why:

1. Renewable Resource
Tree Farms: Real Christmas trees are grown on farms specifically for the purpose of being harvested for the holidays. These farms plant new trees regularly, ensuring a continuous cycle of growth and harvesting.

Sustainability: For every tree cut down, farmers typically plant one to three new seedlings, maintaining a sustainable cycle that supports the environment.

2. Carbon Sequestration
Carbon Absorption: While growing, Christmas trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen, helping to reduce greenhouse gases and improve air quality.

Carbon Storage: The carbon stored in the wood remains until the tree decomposes, which means that even after the tree is cut, it retains its carbon for some time.

3. Biodiversity and Habitat
Wildlife Habitat: Tree farms provide habitats for various wildlife, including birds, mammals, and insects, contributing to biodiversity.

Soil Health: The root systems of these trees help prevent soil erosion, maintain soil health, and improve water retention.

4. Biodegradability and Recycling
Natural Decomposition: Unlike artificial trees, real Christmas trees are biodegradable and can be easily composted or turned into mulch after use.

Recycling Programs: Many communities offer recycling programs that turn old trees into mulch or wood chips for landscaping, helping to return nutrients to the soil.

5. Lower Carbon Footprint
Local Sourcing: Real trees are grown locally, reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation compared to artificial trees, which are usually manufactured overseas.

Manufacturing Impact: The production of artificial trees involves the use of petroleum-based plastics and heavy metals, contributing to pollution and requiring significant energy resources.
