William Lee Stevens built this home on Trenton in West Monroe in 1887. He was a sawmill owner and in the lumber business, so he chose the finest materials for his home. The front door had Tiffany glass etched with his monogram. He later sold the home to the prominent Heard family. Mrs.Katie Kramer bought the home in 1936 and beautifully restored the gardens and home. ( from Louisiana Sketches of Historical Houses and Sights)
