As the 2025 crop comes out of the ground, soil sampling season is full speed ahead at The ACG.

Those soil cores tell us how we’ll manage fertility in the years ahead and help track progress across the operation.

When commodity prices are strong, knowing where you’re at from a fertility standpoint helps you put extra dollars where they’ll pay back later. Building up a buffer of immobile nutrients (phosphorus, lime) for years like the one we’re seeing now allows producers to cut back when cash flow is tight.

Good fertility management isn't glamorous, but it pays off in the long run.
