Meet: The egg fridge.

What started out as an overflow fridge for our grocery trips (big family blessings 😉) a few years back….quickly turned into our egg fridge!

Here we have 120 dozen eggs- washed, packaged and ready to roll out to our wholesalers! All eggs are between 1-3 days freshly laid when they head to the stores. Washed, farm fresh eggs will keep in the fridge for 6 weeks.

*We ARE required to wash all eggs for wholesale. This means the protective coating (called the Bloom ) has been washed off meaning these eggs MUST BE REFRIGERATED.*

We have some extra dozens this week and I will be delivering on Wednesday, May 6 between 8-10am. Please comment below, message me or text if you need some farm fresh eggs!

$3.50/dozen - cash or Venmo, must pay before or at time of delivery.

Not home? I can leave them in a cooler outside or deliver to your work if within city limits.

*We will launch subscriptions later this year, just needing to get through our summer 😉*

CHANGES AHEAD!

As with any business- we do a quarterly evaluation to see where we are making money, losing money, etc. We are making a few changes in the coming months-

1. We have LOVED working with - Miranda is truly a business woman and keeps such a wonderful shop! To streamline our lives a bit - we are going to stop egg sales at Rustic as of April 30, 2026. Miranda will be filling the fridge with some amazing new things- follow her to learn more!

***We will CONTINUE selling eggs at Graybeals in West Point**

2. OUT-OF-TOWN WHOLESALE CUSTOMERS: Please check your e-mails or texts for an update on pricing later today!

3. We are tossing around the idea of a farm fresh egg subscription for local customers starting in the fall. This would be similar to how we were doing things once upon a time with delivering to your doorstep but this would be a weekly guaranteed delivery which would be paid for quarterly. Drop an 🥚 if this is something you’d be interested in!

“Do you recycle cartons?” ♻️

Yes!

Eggs that we sell wholesale or in the grocery store MUST be packaged in new, clean cartons. We do purchase our new cartons BY THE PALLET 😅😮‍💨 and they come at a pretty penny so if you are so inclined to save them for us or even for another chicken tender-er, ♻️ on!

We do sell eggs to family, friends and at the Mercantile and for those, we can reuse clean, recycled cartons.

We love getting carton returns or having you run up to us in random public places with arms full of cartons! So keep em coming!

And while we do not offer a discount for continuing to be AWESOME humans and recycling, please know the savings gets passed on to you down the line and allows our farm fresh egg prices to stay affordable. 🥚

TWO DOUBLES? Time to go buy a lottery ticket! 🤑

But in all seriousness, let’s dig into the “why”!

Double yolks often happen in our young hens as their reproductive system matures. Two eggs are released into a hens oviduct instead of a single and the two end up encased in the same shell. Fast forward 2-3 years and we find this happening again with our “older” layers as their reproductive system slows down and starts to “misfire” again.

We have a variety of young, middle-aged and older hens on the farm at all times so the chances of finding a double-yolker are pretty high!

Feed so good- even the toddler likes it! 😅🥚

This is chore time with Daddy. 💙

Did you know our feed is made right here on the farm? Home grown corn + added nutrients to support healthy hens and egg production all blended together a few tons at a time and stored in a bulk bin. Feed is made fresh every couple of weeks by Farmer Greg. A balanced diet + plenty of foraging in the runs = nutrient dense eggs.

*We use the buckets to dump feed into our feeders. We went through a lot of lemons to find the feeders we love that are easy to fill and low-waste- will share more later!
