🍂 Fall is one of my favorite times of the year for many reasons. Thanksgiving Day is a big part of it! As many of you may know, for the past 11+ years we have been making homeless blessing bags to be distributed on Thanksgiving Day. It’s been a passion project of mine that we very much enjoy doing as a family.
Last year, we decided to direct our efforts locally to help area adults and children during times of crisis and this year we are expanding it!! 🎉 We have chosen our local Social Services, Fire, and Sheriff’s Office to be the beneficiaries of this year’s blessing bags. Our goal is to provide blessing bags for families whos homes have been destroyed due to fires or disasters, or bags to children when removed from a home, just as a couple examples. Each department can give these blessing bags to any child and adult in need of a blessing that they serve throughout the year.
Our goal is 50 children's bags and 50 adult blessing bags. Each backpack will contain a blanket, pillow, toiletries, snacks, water, stuffed animal/smaller toy, bible, nonperishable foods, and notes of encouragement. Attached is a list of items we are seeking donations for this year’s blessing bags. We also created an Amazon wish list for anyone interested in giving that way. We will be delivering these blessing bags on Thanksgiving morning along with a hot meal to our local fire/EMS and police stations.
