Important update: all Woodland stops are canceled this week. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Mobile Farmers Market truck will still be out in Sacramento and West Sacramento this week β€” visit followthetomato.org to find your closest stop.

The truck is packed with local produce this week. We've got berries in from Medina Berry Farm and JSM Organics, and so much more.

With cooler weather in the forecast, it's a good week to grab butternut squash from Durst, onions from Full Belly, Nardellos from Rough Patch, and kale from L.O.V. Farms for a warming soup.

We have a serious love for stone fruit season πŸ‘

This week, the Mobile Farmers Market truck is loaded with peaches and nectarines from Jon at The Refarmery. It's the kind of fruit that drips down your wrist a little, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Slice them into a salad, grill them for a simple dessert, or just eat one standing over the sink.

Meet the hands behind the harvest πŸ… 🚜

A lot of what lands on the Mobile Farmers Market truck starts right here at The Maples Farm, the Center for Land-Based Learning's working farm and headquarters in Woodland. This week, we want to take a moment to thank the people who make that possible.

Delaney, our Farm and Climate Program Manager, Kyle, our Field & Restoration Technician, and Grace and Tatiana, both Farm & Restoration Interns, are out there every week getting their hands dirty, tending the crops that end up on the truck.

From seed to harvest to the truck, this is the team behind every crate of fresh, local produce that reaches your neighborhood. Thank you, Delaney, Kyle, Grace, and Tatiana, for everything you grow.

We've got a rainbow of produce on the truck this week! A mix of summer classics and a few you might not recognize:

πŸ… Tomatoes & cherry tomatoes
πŸ₯’ Cucumbers (Diva & Striped Armenian), zucchini, summer squash, golden glory squash
πŸ‘ Peaches (yellow & white), plums, figs, blackberries, grapes, musk melon
πŸ₯¬ Green cabbage, broccoli, arugula, gypsy peppers, onions, garlic, potatoes, eggplant, okra, bitter melon, gandana
🌿 Italian basil, dill, sweet mint
🍎 Gala apples'

Bitter melon and gandana aren't always easy to find at a regular grocery store, but they're staples in a lot of the cuisines our communities cook with at home. A big part of our work is partnering with local farmers to grow culturally relevant produce for the neighborhoods we serve.

Ready for a summer slaw this weekend?

Green cabbage is on the truck this week, and there's no better way to use it than in a crisp, refreshing summer slaw β€” perfect alongside grilled anything, tacos, or straight off the fork.

Simple Summer Slaw

1 whole head green cabbage (small to medium size), thinly sliced
1 carrot, shredded
1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp mayo (or plain yogurt)
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp honey
Salt and pepper to taste

Toss the cabbage, carrot, and onion together. Whisk the mayo, vinegar, and honey, then pour it over the veggies and mix until everything's coated. Let it sit for 10 minutes so the flavors settle in before serving.

Grab your cabbage (and everything else you need) at the Mobile_Farmers Market this week. Find a stop near you at followthetomato.org.

We love our view from the truck πŸ… πŸ₯¬ 🍎 πŸ‰

Every week, the Mobile Farmers Market rolls into neighborhoods across Woodland, Sacramento, and West Sacramento and greets our customers who remind us why this work matters.

Since 2021, this program has been about more than just produce. It's about building real relationships with the people we serve, one stop at a time. Nearly one in three Yolo County residents face food insecurity, and the Mobile Farmers Market exists to close that gap by bringing fresh, local, sustainably-grown produce directly into the neighborhoods that need it most.

We accept SNAP/EBT and offer 50% off through Market Match, so cost isn't a barrier to fresh food. We partner with small, local farmers to grow produce that reflects the cultures of the communities we serve, and we work with partners who provide translation support, so language isn't a barrier either. This year, we're expanding into Sacramento County, meeting even more neighbors where they are.

This is what community looks like. Thank you for shopping with us, every single week!
