The strong winds and ice have made it difficult to keep the tubing system leak free. This branch fell on a mainline and tore a branch line apart. The wireless monitoring said the whole system was low on vacuum, but one line was 6" less in vacuum than the rest. (New ground along Fisher). I was able to walk this line and quickly make the repair.

We had another maple tree uproot last week with the high winds. This picture shows a old tap holes from years ago. It also shows stains in the wood from tapping. These old tap holes were 7/16" diameter. We now use 5/16" diameter taps, which is easier on the tree.

We have wireless sensors in the woods to help find leaks. I saw one mainline was at zero today, meaning it was froze up....

Our Story

Wagner’s Sugar Camp

We make Pure PA Maple Syrup. Our products include maple sugar cakes, maple cream, maple sugar, and maple coated almonds, walnuts, and peanuts. Other products available at our camp or on special occasions are maple peanut butter bonbons, maple fudge, maple cotton candy, and maple lollipops. Gift baskets are also available and can be customized.

We are open every weekend in March and at least one weekend a month all other months. Tours and other visits can be arranged by calling us ahead of time. We have a large display of maple antiques. An added bonus to visiting the maple camp is that it is located on a farm with a beautiful country setting and a trout hatchery.
