Poor baby got loose near the farm. If you live in the area, keep an eye out!!

🚨 LOST DOG: PLEASE HELP US FIND HANSEL! 🚨

Please keep your eyes open for Hansel, an FMAR dog who went missing tonight (October 20th) near our facility in Belleville. 💔

Hansel pulled away one of our volunteers and ran into the woods along Arkona Road, between Rawsonville Road and Sherwood Road.

Hansel may be frightened and disoriented. Please DO NOT chase or attempt to catch him, as this could cause him to run farther away. If you spot him, please contact FMAR immediately with his exact location, the time of the sighting, and the direction he was heading.

Since our plans have drastically changed because of our move, we have some cows become available for beef.

We have appointments for 2 cows THIS Thursday at Jerome Country Market.

I’m going to say they will probably average around 600lbs hanging weight.

This is grass fed and finished beef and cost will be $6/lb plus processing.

We have four more October market dates remaining, with our final regular market on Thursday, October 29.

📣 Announcement! 📣

This will be a bit lengthy and I’m just going to come out and say it…we are moving!

A lot has been happening here over the last few weeks, which is why we’ve been pretty silent on social media. It was not something we had been planning or preparing for, but it was a possibility we had been praying about.

So when the Lord said it’s time, it was GO time. And GOING we have been 🥱
There were many things that lined up so perfectly and so quickly that we were confident it was the right decision for our family at this season in our lives.

So what does that look like for the farm? Well, our new place has a bit less property, and that means downsizing in many capacities.
🐂We do not have any plans to continue with beef.
🐐We sold our goats earlier this summer.
🐇But, we will be taking our rabbits and chickens.
🐓One of our goals is to still raise meat birds, and if you’ve loved our chicken, it is our intention to continue to have that available through our farm and Healthy Roots Local Market.

🐖As for the pigs…our breeders unfortunately cannot come with us. If you are looking for a nice, friendly breeding trio of Red Wattles, I have some for you 😆

🥓This years’ feeders will be processed towards the end of October, and we have a couple shares left, if you are wanting to stock up on pork for the year. We aren’t sure in what capacity we will be doing pork in the future, so if you’ve been thinking about purchasing a share, this may well be your last opportunity.

Things will look different for us moving forward, but we are at peace with that. We will be taking the winter to settle in and reevaluate what our priorities will be regarding the things we offer from our farm.

We have appreciated every single customer, and some of you have been with us from the very beginning…over 10 years ago!! Agriculture, farming and homesteading is a love of our’s, and we won’t be dropping that; it’s just going to change.

🏡 With all that being said, our home and farm will be going on the market in the next few weeks, so if you’ve been looking for a turn-key, income-producing farm with a lot of potential, that was built with purpose and passion, it will be available soon! 🙂

It’s been quite a long time since we’ve had rabbit kits on the farm!! 🐇
The last few years we had really struggled with our breeders, so we decided to sell and cull them all last winter and started fresh again this spring.
This is our first litter of the year! New momma Lucy was a bit confused as a first-timer, so I’m glad that she can get a couple litters under her belt when it’s nice and warm outside so I don’t have to worry about babies freezing.

Summer is a busy time on the farm, and a lot of our focus is on growing delicious pork for the Fall!

Our hogs are raised in the forest and on pasture. They are fed a ration of freshly milled grain, but they also get lots of fresh fruit and produce every week, making some of the best pork you’ve ever tasted!

If you are wanting to stock your freezer, we are opening up pork shares for our October 21 butcher date. We have whole and half hogs available.
