📸 Plot signs are now in place at J. Williams Farms Inc., and we’re set to begin closely monitoring hybrid performance across the board. This diverse lineup — including hybrids from Dekalb, Dyna-Gro, and others — gives us a great opportunity to evaluate key agronomic traits like standability, ear development, disease tolerance, and late-season plant health.

There are several hybrids we’re keeping a particularly close eye on this season due to their strong early performance and high potential. Thanks again to Nutrien Ag Solutions – Kansas, IL for partnering with us to make this plot possible.

Owen’s journey into farming started on a farm in Kansas, IL, where he first got his hands in the soil and learned the value of hard work. But it wasn’t until he met Kennedy Williams that his story at JWFI started.

From that moment, Owen felt a strong bond not only to the land but to the rich family history of J. Williams Farms — a legacy that has been nurtured and grown here in West Union, IL, for generations. Inspired by the stories, hard work, and dedication passed down through the years, he embraced this heritage with open arms.

Owen plays a vital role on the farm, working the ground tirelessly to make sure it’s perfectly prepared and ready for our planter man to get in there and sow the seeds for a successful season. His attention to detail and commitment to quality help keep the heart of our operation strong.

For Owen, farming isn’t just a job; it’s a commitment to something bigger than himself. He pours his heart into every task, eager to learn and grow alongside the farm and the family. His journey shows us all that passion, respect, and dedication can create roots just as strong as any family tree.

🌱 Meet Dawson Smallwood – The Face Behind the Soybean Planting at J. Williams Farms Inc. 🚜

Dawson didn’t grow up on a farm — but you’d never know it by the way he shows up, digs in, and gives this life everything he’s got.

He’s the one behind the wheel when it’s time to put soybeans in the ground, and around here, he’s known for being the first one to show up and the last one to leave. Day in and day out, Dawson brings grit, heart, and a hunger to learn more — not because he has to, but because he wants to.

He’s worked hard to understand every part of the operation — asking questions, picking up on details, and never backing down from a challenge. His commitment to doing things right has earned our respect, and his presence on this farm makes us better.

We’re proud to have Dawson on our team — and even prouder to watch him help shape the future of J. Williams Farms Inc.

He doesn’t ask for recognition, but he deserves it. Because behind the equipment, the planning, and the long hours… is a man who has spent his life pouring everything he has into the land that’s been in his family for 189 years.

Brian isn’t just planting seed — he’s planting legacy. He takes the time to teach anyone who steps foot on the farm, always leading by example with patience, pride, and purpose.

This year has been especially meaningful, with his youngest daughter, Kennedy, by his side in the cab. Watching her take part in the work and the history of the farm has made this season one the whole family will never forget.

This is what a family farm looks like. And this is the kind of man who keeps it going.

We’ve officially got our corn plot in the ground — 28 varieties from 5 different brands. Side-by-side comparisons like this help us see firsthand what works best in our soils and growing conditions.

This kind of on-farm data is key for making smart decisions, not just for our own acres, but for sharing insight with our neighbors and customers too.
