As we spend more time the fields doing the spring/summer upkeep to the bog, we are staring to see many of our wild friends return which means it’s time for a !
Meet one of our resident snapping turtles! The common snapping turtle is a large, long-lived fresh water reptile that can be found all across North America. They’re known for their powerful jaws and aggressive defense, but are generally docile in the water. Snapping turtles are omnivorous, and are both ambush predators and scavengers.
All of our snapping turtles are affectionately known as “Fred,” though many are likely female.
