"What should I start my new pig on? How much should I be feeding?"

A question we get asked all the time, with the consistent answer of "well, it just depends!" It depends on what kind of pig you bought!

The truth is there's dozens of different ways to start the journey, but you have to start somewhere.

Here's a simple chart of making your initial Sunglo feeding decision based on the amount of muscle your pig has. The amount of muscle is often the easiest thing for people to "read", especially if they're just starting out.

Another good rule of thumb is the 3% rule.

If your pig weighs 100 lbs., then 3% of that pig's bodyweight is approximately 3 lbs., which is how much feed you should expect that pig to eat in a day. In other words, 1.5 lbs. of feed, twice a day, is what successful families do.

Just remember, every pig is different. Every pig will feed differently. Keep them healthy, keep them hydrated, keep them consuming for your best chance in the end.
