Don’t mind me- I’m just driving an hour each way on a Sunday night to transport some bees! 🐝🐝
I started my journey at 9pm tonight and didn’t make it home till almost midnight😴
We have been wanting to move one of our best hives out of the front yard, and to do that… welllll you gotta move bees less than 3 feet or more than 3 miles to keep them from getting disoriented and confused. Moving them like this and keeping them at the new location for 4-6 weeks breaks their memory of the original location, making it easier to move them to a new location when we bring them back! PLUS, my boyfriend has been trying to catch a few of his own wild swarms and having an established hive on site will draw more bees in to help him gain a swarm or two, so win win for everyone🙂
And yes, I know I’m wearing shorts and a bee jacket. Buttttt this hive is pretty chill and not very mean so I wasn’t too worried about being stung on my legs, just the face is my worry🤣☺️
