Maple View Sugarworks

Maple View Sugarworks Maple View SugarWorks is a family-run farm in northern Vermont. We take pride in our farm, our land, and our maple syrup and other maple confections.

Software developers turned farmers, we’ve been making maple syrup for over 25 years. Nestled near the Canadian border in VT we have 8500 taps, make 3000-3500 gallons of maple syrup every year, and have Icelandic sheep and alpacas for their wool.

Final stats for our sugaring season:
- First boil on 3/9/26 and we finished up on 4/13/26.
- We made 2940 gallons of yummy maple syrup.
- That's 70 drums!
- We boiled 12 times.
- 23 of the drums are Golden/Delicious aka Fancy;
- 46 drums are Amber/Rich; and
- 1 drum is Dark/Robust.
- The most amount of syrup we made in one day is 351 gallons!

Tom is one day away from pulling the last tap. Then the other cleanup begins. Sanitizing pump-up lines, cleaning tanks, sanitizing drop lines, fussy cleaning of the evaporator, and one million other tasks. Should be done by the end of May.

Under the heading:
Not Everything Goes to Plan - We’ve heard sugar makers say that they had made maple syrup that would not filter no matter what they did. We never had that problem before. Today was our turn. What a s**t show. Lots of maple syrup spilled on the floor changing valves and hoses to our back up filter press to no avail. Thanks to our friend Todd Morey who has seen and experienced this not fun at all event. It has been one heck of a season so far. Hopefully Mother Nature will stop this torture and let us get back to making our yummy as always maple syrup.

That’s why we are members of 1% for the Planet and give 1% of our gross income from sugaring sales including bulk maple syrup to The Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean. 🌎

It's World Health Day today, and what better way to celebrate than talking about the health benefits of our favorite sweetener - Maple Syrup!

Did you know maple syrup contains an abundant amount of naturally occurring minerals such as calcium, manganese, potassium and magnesium? And like broccoli and bananas, it’s a natural source of beneficial antioxidants.

Antioxidants have been shown to help prevent cancer, support the immune system, lower blood pressure and slow the effects of aging. Maple syrup is also a better source of some nutrients than apples, eggs or bread. It’s more nutritious than all other common sweeteners, contains one of the lowest calorie levels, and has been shown to have healthy glycemic qualities.

Maple syrup was the original natural sweetener. Native Peoples in North America were the first to recognize 100% pure maple syrup as a source of nutrition and energy. Since then, researchers have been documenting that maple syrup has a higher nutritional value than all other common sweeteners. In addition, researchers have found that pure maple syrup contains numerous phenolic compounds, commonly found in plants and in agricultural products such as blueberries, tea, red wine and flax-seed. Some of these compounds may benefit human health in significant ways.

So go ahead and satisfy that sweet tooth with something that not only tastes great…but is naturally good FOR you!
