Combined with Joe’s seafood supplying business Lockwood & Winant; and seafood purveying business Meat Without Feet (which supplies some of New York City’s best chefs and restaurants) we boast the largest presence at the iconic Fulton Fish Market. When Joe purchased Citarella in 1983, he immediately went to work creating a new aesthetic for the shop. Brighter and fresher than other seafood shops at that time, he drew attention to his pristine store by investing in unique window displays: murals created entirely out of fresh seafood. As Citarella’s gourmet offerings increased, so did our recognition as a culinary destination. Over time, Joe grew our Citarella family and expanded the business to include prime meats (dry-aged for 21 days in-house), chef-prepared dishes, handmade pastries, artisanal cheeses, a carefully curated selection of produce, fresh pastas, a line of Citarella-branded products, and more. Our newest market (in Greenwich, CT) features a wine shop next door — with a stunning collection of fine wines, artisanal spirits, and craft beers. We continue to be a culinary hotspot, with seafood as our cornerstone.
