🐝 Did you know every avocado starts with a bee and a flower that changes gender twice a day?
It's one of the strangest and most beautiful things that happens on our ranch each spring — and most people have never heard of it.
Avocado flowers are female one day, male the next. And the varieties on our ranch are split into two groups — Type A and Type B — that are perfectly timed to pollinate each other. While one is releasing pollen, the other is open and ready to receive it.
The avocados in your box right now? They were pollinated by bees over a year ago, on a warm spring morning in Somis.
