Texas Brigade BBQ™ is a veteran owned and operated business. This all natural sauce is hand crafted today just like our family has made it for over 100 years. There is much debate as to the actual age of the original recipe. Some in our family say it is as old as Texas itself, others try and trace it back to the origins of BBQ sauce. We have decided that it is best to stay with what we know for ce
rtain and that is that it is over 100 years old. My first memory of the BBQ sauce is in the 80's when our Boy Scout Troop took first place at the local Scout-a-rama in my home town in East Texas. We had a line that stretched the whole inner loop of the fairgrounds of visitors waiting to try our BBQ and view our camping display. Us Boy Scouts would have liked to believe it was because of our great camping display. It wasn't until, person after person kept asking my father, the Scoutmaster, for the recipe that we quickly realized the BBQ sauce was the winner. Dad would have the sauce made up for other Boy Scout and FFA events over the years where it was always a hit. In recent years I cannot recall a birthday or gathering where we did not have “The Sauce” as it was called. Anytime it was made, it would have to be in large batches so that family and friends could take a jar home with them. Everyone would always tell us we needed to bottle and sale it but it just never seemed to happen. Fast forward to April 2013, Mom had the idea of opening a small Eatery in Gettysburg, PA. When the menu was being planned the idea of serving “The Sauce” came up. It was at this time we were able to really get the feedback of strangers, not family and friends, on how great “The Sauce” really was. With this, the idea was born to actually have the sauce bottled and distributed so others could enjoy what our family and friends have enjoyed for over a 100 years. Dec 2013, after six months of working with a local co-packer and what seemed like an eternity of working on labels to make sure they were just right Texas Brigade BBQ Original™ and Texas Brigade Sweet and Sassy™ became a reality.
