Rocky at 6 months of age is as tall as Lily who turned 3 years old on August 9th.

What do you do on your day off? You put up more fence line. At least that’s what I did. This was a gradual build that had breaks in between due to high heat advisories allowing small portions worked on in early evenings. It was a bit cooler yesterday allowing plenty of time to get the job completed. Happy goats and happy guardians.

Who needs a cat to catch mice when you have a livestock guardian dog? Moved goats and dogs back to main pasture and Lena caught this mouse outside the goat house.

Tooth & Claw Thursday: LGDs vs. Coyotes
LGDs do not have to kill predators to be effective. Their presence, barking, scent marking, and territorial behavior can reduce predator access to livestock.
Because coyotes are canids, they often respond strongly to the presence of another large territorial dog.
LGD Tip: The goal is prevention. A predator that avoids the pasture is a successful outcome.

Lily turns three years old today. She has grown up beautifully and has learned to be a great guardian from her parents (Liam and Lena). She is also the best big sister/mentor to Rocky.
