Lachat Town Farm

Lachat Town Farm Lachat dedicated the property for public and educational use that emphasizes Weston’s agricultural roots.

The Lachat Town Farm at the Juliana Lachat Preserve

In 1997, the late Leon Lachat left his 42-acre working farm on Godfrey Road West, and abutting Devil’s Den, to the town of Weston and the Nature Conservancy. Through a dual lease agreement in 2011, the conservancy oversees the wooded area next to its Devil’s Den Preserve (about 22.5 acres) and the town is responsible for the front meadow portion of the property (about 19 acres), including the buildings.

Lachat is heartbroken by the loss of John Cassol, one of the Community Garden’s longest standing members and one of Lachat’s most dedicated volunteers.
Even if you didn’t know John personally, you almost certainly saw the impact of his care and generosity. For a decade, he spent much of his limited free time mowing the Community Garden and Giving Garden, quietly and consistently, without ever being asked. He simply saw what needed to be done and did it.
John also went above and beyond in countless ways at Lachat. He regularly repaired machines and tools in the carriage stalls and helped clean out and organize equipment before each season, making sure everything was ready for the work ahead.
When he wasn’t volunteering in the gardens or tending his own plot, you could often find John at the farmers market, relaxing in his lawn chair and telling anyone who would listen what a gift this beautiful place was to the community.
John helped create the beauty we all enjoy at the farm, and he truly embodied the spirit of “community” in the Community Garden. His presence will be deeply missed by all. Photo by

Did that really happen? ✨

It’s hard to believe it’s already been two weeks since we welcomed the incomparably talented Billy Mann center stage at the farm. The night was pure magic, and so unreal it still feels like a dream. And yet, the photos don’t lie. Billy was joined by his incredibly talented family, opener Ferry Townes and some truly world‑renowned special guests, including our dear friend Renée Elise Goldsberry and international pop superstar P!nk. Endless thanks to Billy and his family for bringing such unforgettable energy and heart to our space, and to his very special guests for making the night one we’ll never forget. Now we’re left wondering… what’s next? Stay tuned. 🌙🎶 📸

For Leila Brier, who moved from Brooklyn with her family only three years ago, her discovery of Lachat Farm was both her good fortune and ours. Having grown up in Charleston, West Virginia there was something about Weston that reminded her of home, the beautiful houses surrounded by woods, the sense of community that she witnessed, the feeling of a safe environment to raise their two daughters. And then upon discovering the Farm she felt that it was the first place since moving to town that these were her people, that the warmth and energy was so real and that she knew she had found a kinship and a place to get involved. And indeed she did.
With extensive business experience in branding and marketing Leila was invited to undertake a project to further explore the ways that the Farm could refine its own identity and brand. Together with this ongoing endeavor she remains a key part of the Farm’s marketing strategy and her vision and enthusiasm has brought a whole new level of insight into planning for the future of Lachat.
Thanks to Leila we have a wonderful new tagline that speaks so powerfully to who we are, “Lachat Town Farm” Community is in our nature”.
