S E P T E M B E R🌙🌿🐓💐Update Poultry + Flowers

🐓POULTRY: I have closed Poultry Pre-orders for 2026 on the website opengatepoultry.com! Next Season list begins January 5, 2027 at 10AM for Hatching Eggs, Chicks, and Pullets! Thank you for adding our birds to your flock this season - already looking forward to 2027 while assessing this year’s grow outs!!! I hope our birds turn out to be some of your flock favorites! Flock stories and updates always welcome. I have one more batch to hatch this month from Jen Little Chicken Farms before the incubator is officially off! 🐓

The Marans eggs do change during their laying season ⭐️ also influenced by heat, stress, and the natural rhythm. I am pretty good about documenting the change accurately✌️The hens will lay dark once again after they molt and return to lay in January - but they’ll never lay As dark as they did their very first season but they will pass the dark egg genetics to their direct offspring (same goes for other BCM - if they had any to start with). Also depends how frequently the hens lay ⭐️

It’s that time! I am closing 2026 orders on Monday August 31 - at opengatepoultry.com - I have consistently offered preorders for years. It works for me and helps plan ahead with each season. This year I filled most orders March - June as planned before assessing and restocking a few more - It just worked out that way!!!👌

2027 will be my 15th hatching season and 9th year offering NPIP certified poultry. There is no waitlist. Preorders open January 5 at 10AM - thats officially - when the 2027 list begins for hatching eggs, chicks, and pullets ⭐️

The seasonal blooms remind us to be present, and enjoy them as they are right now.

The workshop includes a bucket of our seasonal blooms, a demonstration, all the ingredients to craft an arrangement to take home. Snacks and such. There’s more - but you have to come join to find out!

I am currently - still shipping hatching eggs 👍 and still hatching. Grow outs are growing. They’ve started to lay! Some of my hens have made their way to retirement pet homes - and the Bresse flock move to NH tomorrow ❤️

If you’re looking for a cockerel (let me know soon) I have Splash Ameraucana, Delaware, some Multi-Gen Olives. Pullets are sold out for the year⭐️

All Black Fibro Frizzle in Motion! ☀️From Head to Tail Feathers, Skin and all. She will continue to feather out - she’s about half way there 👍

She should lay olive in the coming months. Still thinking on a name…

It’s always been fun to hatch different variations over the years. I have hatched many frizzles in small amounts since 2019. I have been hatching poultry for just about 15 years 🥰

There was a 50/50 chance of her having the frizzle feather rather than smooth - and then 50/50 chance of being male or female.
