We had an energizing time connecting with organizations from across the nation at CCE’s 2026 New York Farm to School Summit and AFSN’s 2026 Adirondack Food Justice Summit!

These gatherings brought schools, educators, distributors, farmers, and community members together to discuss strengthening regional food systems and expanding access to healthy, local food, reminding us how important partnership and knowledge-sharing are to our shared goals.

Thank you all who tirelessly built these events, and thank you, New York Health Foundation, who made it possible for us to attend them.

𝗔 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗼𝗳 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲. 💚

In November, 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘅 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗛𝘂𝗯 opened our 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 in response to the sudden halt of SNAP funding, with the goal of making fresh food available 𝟮𝟰/𝟳, 𝗻𝗼 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱, during a moment of increased need.

Thanks to an emergency grant, we were able to stock the fridge for 𝟭𝟱 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀, distributing 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝟰,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗹𝗯𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 and serving 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀. We’ve heard again and again that this fridge has been a valuable and meaningful resource — and we’re grateful it could be here when it was needed most.

Recently, the emergency funding that supported active stocking has come to an end. 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙚, 𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜-𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙢.

This fridge represents what’s possible when a community comes together quickly and with care. We’re committed to finding a way forward — and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make these past few weeks count.

End of week Community Fridge/Freezer update:

We still have eggs, carrots, potatoes, pasta, and canned goods available for folks! And we’ve received another amazing bread donation from Red Oak Bakery & Larder —we are so grateful!

The next restock will be this upcoming Monday. Stay warm this weekend!
