🇵🇭 Fiesta Filipina may be postponed, but a taste of Manila nostalgia is always welcome! ❤️💛💚

We know you were looking forward to seeing us and the wonderful lineup of Filipino food vendors who were supposed to be there today. While we await the new event date, let us take you on a little trip down memory lane with Piknik Street’s very own Panghimagas Cart!

Inspired by the nostalgic carts of Mamang Sorbetero (the beloved Filipino ice cream vendor), our colorful little cart puts a sweet twist on this familiar street scene. Instead of ice cream, we’re serving three crowd-favorite flavors: Buko Pandan, Mango Sago, and Ube Cheese! 🥥🥭💜

At Piknik Street, our vision has always been to recreate that feeling of home through the flavors, traditions, and little details that bring back fond memories of the Philippines. Every corner of our little alley is designed to share a piece of that experience with you.

Our little ambassador completes the look in a straw sombrero and pink rubber slippers inspired by the traditional Filipino bakya, playful tribute to the everyday sights and simple joys that evoke the charm of old Manila.

We hope to welcome you at our upcoming events, whether you’re discovering Filipino cuisine for the first time or simply longing for the familiar flavors that remind you of home.

And when you spot our iconic Panghimagas Cart at our next event, don’t be shy! Feel free to borrow our sombrero, strike a pose, and snap a photo with our little piece of Manila🫶

A difficult decision, but safety comes first. ❤️

Due to inclement weather and safety concerns, the Philippine Louisiana Historical Society - PLHS has decided to reschedule Fiesta Filipina Louisiana indefinitely.

We sincerely apologize for the change and know many of you were looking forward to celebrating Filipino culture and community with us. 🇵🇭❤️ Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

Please stay tuned for the final rescheduled date. We can’t wait to celebrate with you when the time is right!

🇵🇭 October is Filipino American History Month! 🇺🇸

A time to honor the rich history, heritage, stories, and contributions of Filipino Americans and celebrate the generations who have helped shape communities across the United States.

Did you know? While October commemorates the first documented Filipino presence in the continental U.S. in 1587, here in Louisiana, Filipino communities have deep roots.

FANHS recognizes St. Malo in St. Bernard Parish as the site of the first permanent Filipino settlement in the United States, dating to 1763. Filipino fishermen built a community in the marshes along Lake Borgne and became pioneers of Louisiana’s commercial fishing industry. Their community helped lay the foundation for generations of Filipino Americans in Greater New Orleans.

Nearby, Manila Village in Jefferson Parish became an important early Filipino community and a major center of the Filipino shrimp-drying industry.

From the bayous of St. Bernard Parish to communities across the country, Filipino Americans have been making history for generations.
