Yesterday was a swirl of prepping stalls for firework safety, getting round bales under the pole barn (shout out to my amazing neighbor,) and moving all the animals into their safe spots. In the midst of the prep work, I managed to walk into a steel truss and now look like I picked a fight. This morning, I was putting all the horses back in their respective pastures and marveling at how still and calm it is after the chaos of yesterday. I looked up to the most beautiful rainbow. This life is the hardest I have ever worked. It is also the happiest I have ever been.

The farm animals and I made new friends this morning. One of my favorite things to do as a breeder is to expose the local kids to the animals. I have a feeling these neighbors will be back to do more farm chores. And can we talk about Deacon’s gait? He is going to make someone a magnificent trail partner… and is available!
