What a beautiful day to be out on the trail! I was happy to see the new eagles nest in full view today! This week looks fantastic to be outdoors and see the fall colors! We are OPEN 7 days a week!

We are not the same here at the Depot without Everette stopping in nearly daily to visit. He was my neighbor and friend and is so missed.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends, and Whalan community following the passing of Thore “Everett” Johnson.

Everett (pictured left) spent a lifetime serving the community he loved. He served on the Whalan City Council for more than 45 years and gave countless hours to the Whalan Fastpitch Tournament, Whalan Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and many other efforts over the years. His kindness, willingness to lend a hand, and dedication to Whalan left a lasting mark on the community.

We are grateful for everything Everett gave to Whalan and the surrounding community, and our thoughts are with all who knew and loved him.

Everett’s memorial service will be held at the Whalan Ball Field at 11 a.m. this Saturday, September 26, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. In a fitting tribute to his love of local sports, the service has been called Everett’s “Last Inning.”

The Lanesboro Area Art Trail returns Friday and Saturday, and Saturday also brings the Fall Boutique & Business Crawl + B**r & W**e Fest to downtown Lanesboro.

Around town, you’ll also find live music, theatre, Amish tours, the farmers market, pumpkin farm fun, foraging, owl programs, museums, apple picking, Vikings football and plenty more happening throughout the weekend.
