Hey, refillery friends! 👋 Do y'all know any local individuals or small businesses making lacto-fermented goodies like sauerkraut, kimchi, or pickles? We're looking for the real fermented deal, not vinegar-based or quick-pickled!

Bonus points if we can work out wholesale pricing AND a jar-return arrangement for customers. Supporting local makers AND local gut biomes! 🥒❤️ Drop your leads below!

🐝🕯️ A little something new is buzzing into La Despensa!

We just received our first order from Bluecorn Beeswax, a candle company dedicated to keeping things beautifully simple!

Bluecorn sources high-quality beeswax and carefully filters it to remove particulates while preserving its naturally sweet scent and gorgeous golden color. They even test every batch to ensure a beautiful, consistent burn!

Here's what we brought in:

🍯 Beeswax Tea Lights – Simple, sweet, and naturally beautiful.

🕯️ Mini Tapers (Ceremony Lights) – Delicate little candles perfect for everyday rituals, special occasions, or quiet evenings.

🐝 3" x 4" Unscented Pillars – Classic, substantial beeswax candles that let the natural beauty of the wax shine.

🌲 Spruce-Scented Pillars – A little something for the season!

🌿 Lemongrass, Cassia & Rosemary – A wonderfully aromatic option for those who enjoy something different.

And we couldn't resist ordering some solid brass taper holders! They're beautifully heavy, timeless, and pair perfectly with the mini tapers.

A little note about sourcing: ❤️

Before looking outside our community, we reached out to some of our favorite local honey suppliers and beekeepers to explore sourcing beeswax candles closer to home. Supporting local producers is always our first choice! After exhausting those options, we expanded our search to find a supplier that could deliver the quality and consistency we wanted to offer our customers. That's how we landed on Bluecorn!

Now, we're not trying to become a candle shop. 😂 We don't even plan on having a dedicated candle section! But we know how much y'all enjoy discovering thoughtfully made products with simple ingredients, less waste, and lasting quality.

So we brought in a small assortment to see what you think! ❤️

We're working on finding these beauties a home on our shelves and getting everything priced. Stay tuned! 🐝🕯️

What do you think? Are you a beeswax candle person?

10/23/2026

All you have to do is join Scoop Society and we'll let you out, we promise! 😂

Not sure what we do and who we are? We are a low waste refillery right here in Wharton County. One of only a couple dozen full-time, brick and mortar refilleries in Texas, actually.

You bring your own containers or grab one of ours while you are here. Then we get the weight of your empty container, and you fill up to your heart's content with pantry staples, dry goods, oils, vinegars, or home and body care or cleaning supplies.

99% of products are organic, non-GMO. Absolutely no fillers, no dyes.

And everything is priced by the ounce. You save money by ditching the packaging and not compromising on quality.

♻️ BIG NEWS! La Despensa is officially a TerraCycle recycling drop-off location!

Ever wondered how to recycle those tricky products made from a mix of plastics, metals, and other materials? Traditional recycling programs often can't accept them, but TerraCycle can! 🙌

We're now collecting packaging for THREE recycling programs:

🧴 Mr. Clean + Febreze: ALL BRANDS of empty home cleaning and air care bottles, spray triggers, nozzles, plug-ins, cartridges, and more!

🧀 Babybel: All Babybel packaging, including wrappers, netting, and even the WAX!

🫧 Head & Shoulders: All non-aerosol Head & Shoulders packaging, including bottles, pumps, caps, and tubes!

No need to separate all those mixed-material components! Just bring us your accepted empties, and we'll ship them to TerraCycle for sorting and processing.

🪥🪒 COMING SOON (hopefully!): We're waitlisted for the Colgate oral care and Gillette razor recycling programs, which accept eligible products from ALL brands!

We love practical solutions that keep materials in circulation longer. And while you're dropping off your recyclables, why not check out our refillable alternatives? 😉

♻️ Recycle what you have. Refill what you can. Repeat! ❤️
