We’ve got a little over one month left in our 54th harvest and it looks like fall has FINALLY decided to arrive 🍂🍁🙌 The forecast for the foreseeable future? CHEF’S KISS! 🤌☀️ There’s still plenty of time to do all the fall things because the farm is open 7 days a week through November 15th 🚂🌻 These BPF pro tips will help make the most of every last pumpkin-packed day 🎃

We’ve got a HUGE announcement! 📣 This Saturday, 9/26 is Yuba County’s 4th Annual National Pumpkin Weigh Off 🎃 In true weigh-off tradition, these GOURD-geous giants are taking over pumpkin paradise right here at BPF! And we are especially PUMP(ed) to debut the farm’s brand new 100 Acre Amphitheater 🌽🚜 as the event’s official home 🙌

Get ready for some HEAVY competition as growers from near & far put their giant gourds to the test. Last year’s National Pumpkin Weigh-Off champ, Russ Pugh, brought an impressive 2,204.5 lb pumpkin from Oregon 🥵 Who will tip the scales & be crowned this year’s SQUASH GOALS?! ⚖️🏆

Come on out to the farm this Saturday to join us for this MASSIVE event 🎊 Free admission into the farm, free parking & free viewing of the weigh-off. The approximate schedule is below but program of events can fluctuate based on number of entries:

🌱9:00 AM - Future Farmers category (ages 7-17)
🌱10:00 AM - National Pumpkin Weigh-Off with giant pumpkin weigh-ins begin
🌱12:00-2:00 PM - Heaviest 10 giant pumpkins weighed last

Yesterday we hosted Sutter Health’s 15th annual Run Your Gourd Off 5K 🎃🏃🏼‍♀️🏃‍♂️ It was the perfect morning to run, walk and/or cheer for an incredible cause. All proceeds from the Fun Run benefit The Child Abuse Prevention Center and its work to protect children and strengthen families throughout our region.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s race a record-breaking turnout! We’re especially grateful to our incredible sponsors, whose generous support makes this event possible. HOLY CLUCK, IT HAPPENED: Cluck ’n’ Dogs is officially OPEN! 🐓🐶

Scratch-made. Hand-breaded. Golden. Buttery. Crispy. Big flavor. 🍗🌭

We’re not cluckin’ around 🥵 This hen & hound house is serving up all the golden goodness you’ve been dreaming of: scratch-made crispy fried chicken, BPF’s famous corn dogs, mac ’n’ cheese, fries… and the sauce game? STRONG 🤤 Oh, and we’re doing things a little differently around here 👀 Allow us to introduce the farm’s first ever cafeteria-style service 👌💯

Welcome to our Cluck ’n’ Dogs era 🐓🐶 We’ll be slingin’ chix & dogs 7 days a week until the farm closes for the season on 11/15. Can I get a CLUCK YEAH?! 🐔

Our Corn Maze opens for the season today (!!) and we’re thrilled to announce this year’s theme 🌽🧭 Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm is proud to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library as our featured philanthropic organization for this season’s maze. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library provides free high-quality books to children from birth to age 5 📚📖 and are delivered right to their homes each month, regardless of family income 🫶

This partnership is especially meaningful to our family because it comes full circle. In 2019, BPF helped support the launch of our local Imagination Library branch right here in Yuba County and we’re honored to continue investing in literacy and the children of our community. Our family selected Dolly’s charitable organization as this season’s maze theme this past winter and now with her recent passing, it feels even more significant to celebrate Dolly Parton and the extraordinary legacy she created for generations of young readers 💖🪽

In BPF tradition, our maze will serve as a fundraiser this coming weekend: September 12–13. A portion of all Corn Maze ticket & wristband sales 🎟️ during these 2 days will benefit Yuba County’s Imagination Library, administered by First 5 Yuba, helping put even more books into the hands of local children! 📚

The Dolly of it all doesn’t stop there: on Saturday, 9/12 from 11:00-1:00 PM First 5 Yuba County will be at the maze for a Western-themed event hosting a handful of free family-friendly activities 🤠🌵 First 5 Yuba County Children & Families Commission

It turns out people love $5 farm-fresh melons 🍉🤷🤷‍♀️ Farmer Austin is projecting we will likely sell out of our watermelon crop by tomorrow morning (Sunday). Meaning… if you want a $5 melon, come on down to Bishop’s Melon Farm 🍉 before it’s too late. We are open 9:00-8:00 pm today & tomorrow. Free parking, free admission.
