Our garden is going in late this year. We had planned to plant May 15th, but then we had 2 weeks of rain. Better late than never, though! We'll just be harvesting in August.

Came home from Quaker meeting this afternoon and discovered that last night's storm had brought down a big wild cherry branch into the goat pen. The goats were eating it when I found them. I shooed them all into the barn as fast as I could, then we had a family effort to clear the branches and leaves from the pen. For those who don't know, wild cherry trees (all pitted fruit trees, actually) contain cyanide. *Supposedly* the fresh leaves and fully dried leaves are safe, but wilted leaves are incredibly poisonous. I'm still worried sick about them, especially the kids. On pins and needles right now. Please keep your fingers crossed for my goats.

Edited to add: false alarm! It's a locust tree. I know we have a couple of wild cherry trees. And usually I'm good at tree identification. I think I panicked.

We've had plans to build goat pen pallet platforms with a rock wall attached to one of them for a year now. Today we finally started to build them - then about 2.5 hours later realized we should have gone about it an entirely different way. Typical farm life 😂

Also, we had lots of "help."

Pinch me, I must be dreaming 😍 Here's our new herdsire! I was going to try to wait until he is here, but I'm too excited.

I love, love, love everything Samantha at Foggy Fork Farm LLC is doing with her herd. I'm so happy to be welcoming this boy home in June. Amazing conformation and milk genetics behind him. This very special guy is out of FFF TAS Dark Whisper and FFF SS Dare to Dream. Whisper has an incredible udder. Pictures are of her FF udder and it's even better with her 2nd freshening this year. I can't wait to see what he does for our herd.

Anyone want to help with a name? I don't have to keep it in line with his sire and dam, but it would be nice to. I'm kind of leaning towards something with Reverie or Rebel (connects to Dare to Dream) or Revival (because the bookstore we're opening is Revival Books). But I'm open!
Possible themes/connections: dark/shadowed/night, nautical or adventure (for grandsire Sailor), Appalachian anything (because I always love those), dream-themed.

Last night I was messaging someone interested in a goat kid. Being the supreme multi-tasker that I am, I was also helping my son with a pillowcase while holding my phone....AND I VIDEO CALLED HER. And bless her heart, she answered and there I was, upside down, with the phone camera right under my chin, looking goblin-like in the near dark, saying aloud to my son, "I called this stranger and I can't find the end-call button!" 😂😂😂
