🌳 From Trees to Walls
Big things are happening on the farm — we’re building, one board at a time! 🏡💪
These trees grew right here on family land. We fell them, hauled them to the mill, sanded, and now we’re squaring and ship-lapping each board by hand with Andy's custom made, 4 bladed table saw. Eight hours later, we’ve got one beautiful stack ready to go up! 🪵✨

It’s a lot of work, but there’s something special about knowing our home will literally be built from the same soil that grows our pecans. ❤️

Thinking about the farmers who’ve lost their crops to recent storms—heartbreaking doesn’t even begin to describe it. For pecan growers, harvest comes just once a year in October. No crop means no income.

This is why supporting small farms matters more than ever. We may be just 1% of the population, but we help feed the world. 🌍💚

🌳Pecan Farming: Science, Strategy & Sunshine! 🌞

There’s more than one way to grow a pecan, and just like grandma’s pie recipes, everyone has their favorite method! 🥧

One of the latest trends in pecan farming? Hedging. 🚜✂️
No, not a financial strategy—but a bold tree haircut! In this method, pecan trees are planted closely together and then trimmed flat across the top (yep, like a hedge!) to let sunlight and air do their magic. 🌤️💨 Check out the first video to see a section of our orchard where this method could work. It was originally planted under the belief that “you can’t have too many trees.” (Turns out... maybe you can. 😅)

But then there’s the tried-and-true wisdom from the University of Georgia, which recommends planting about 16 trees per acre, evenly spaced so each one has plenty of room to stretch, breathe, and soak up that Georgia sunshine. 🌞 That’s what you’ll see in the second video—and it’s a method that’s working beautifully for us. 🌱

This isn’t instant gratification—pecans take time to grow and thrive—but year by year, we’re seeing better health, better yield, and a whole lot of promise. 🙌

Farming isn’t just tradition—it’s science + patience + a little faith. ❤️🌳

🎉 **Guess who’s cancer-free? THIS GIRL!** 🙌 While I’m still working through challenges (my recurrence risk is higher than I’d like) and procedures of one kind or another are still a part of my regular life, I’m celebrating this big milestone.

In the past year, I’ve survived so many biopsy's, surgery, radiation, failed suppressants, gained and lost 30+ pounds, wrangled with side effects, tackled insurance drama like a boss, and most importantly—soaked up time with amazing friends who remind me what life’s all about.

To everyone who has shown me love, patience, and support—**thank you** doesn’t even begin to cover it. This journey is no joke, and your kindness has been everything.

As life shifts back into its usual brand of chaos, I’m hoping our paths cross soon. Until then, I’m holding tight to the joy, the healing, and the people who make it all worth it. 💛
