Do you ever have one of those days when NOTHING seems to go right?
This morning, I woke up early and was excited to start baking for our very first week of banana bread and chocolate chip banana bread.
Well… the entire first batch of loaves got ruined, and I had to throw it all away. 😩
So, I quickly whipped up a second batch of banana bread batter. I got it into the pans, popped it in the oven, and then realized… I FORGOT THE MILK. 🤦♀️
Yep. Second batch straight into the trash. 🫠
So here I am, making a THIRD batch of banana bread, which is currently baking in the oven. Needless to say, this is going to be a negative-profit week for Crumb Cottage.
I could have gotten angry and let it ruin my day. Especially because I also have some personal things going on that have been keeping my mind preoccupied.
But while I was making that third batch, one of our favorite songs came on the radio: “Good Day” by Forrest Frank. ❤️
The beginning lyrics say:
“I’m ’bout to have a good day (good day)
No matter what they say (what they say)
The sun is shinin’ down on me, birds are singing praise
I’m ’bout to have a good day (good day) in every single way
The God who made the universe knows me by my name
So it’s a good day.”
And you know what? It really put things into perspective.
Yes, it was frustrating.
Yes, I wasted a LOT of ingredients.
Yes, I’m probably going to lose money this week.
But nobody died. Nobody got hurt. And the worst thing that happened is that some of my customers are going to have to pick up their bread about two hours later than normal.
So… it’s a good day. ❤️
Sometimes we just need a little reminder to stop, take a breath, and remember that even when things don’t go according to plan, there is still so much to be thankful for.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! ❤️🍌🍞
(I’ll text you all when the banana bread is finally done.)
