Personal update:
❤️❤️❤️
I want to be vulnerable for a minute. As most of you know, Kat & Ken’s was born to showcase what I’ve grown to truly enjoy - bringing ideas to life through cake pops of all different shapes and intricate designs. It’s been an honor to be a part of so many celebrations.
But with anything like this, comes the downfalls. I’m a wife, mom, and nurse who still works some during the week. Although this is not my primary form of income, it is an absolutely fun side gig. One where others have allowed my creative liberties run wild.
Any custom order means mental timing and planning.
So, what does it take on my end?
- When to bake the cake
- When to mix the dough
- When to mold to dough
- When to temper the chocolate and dip the base coat
- When to decorate
- All within a safe time frame to still consume.
- And all working around our family and work schedules
It all rarely happens in one day.
Within the past year, I have had three orders fall through. Two after I had already started baking and making. And one (the final straw for me) happened just this week.
I’ve often posted my creations for marketing on various local Facebook groups. One individual reached out to me through my personal page asking for an order for this weekend. As of two weeks ago, this person was no longer reading nor responding to my messages.
Through some mutual friends help and digging through Facebook, it appears that my personal page has been blocked for reasons unbeknownst to me. (I can still find this person through my business page). Yesterday I read and reread our message thread numerous times, mind racing, heart pounding, trying to find any reason on my end as to why, and I’m at a loss. I had already bought colored chocolate and special sticks (which I know I can use later), but so thankful I didn’t go ahead and waste my time and money making the pops without confirmation of order, date, and time.
So, if you’ve read this far, you’re probably wondering where this is going. To protect my time and mental energy, I feel as though I can no longer offer my services to anyone other than family, friends, or a referral from someone I personally know. I can no longer take the risks, the wondering, and the hits to my pocket book.
This page will soon be take down, and all past and future cake pop photos will be moved to a public album on my personal page Allison Hulsey. Feel free to follow along there 🙂
I want to extend an ✨extra✨ special thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the strangers who trusted me to create your pops.
With much love and hugs,
-Allison-
