Pumpkin's baby girl from this morning didn't make it. Her huge baby boy is still great!
I just hope that some day these boys remember the beauty and the hardships of having a farm. When they were littler, I think it may have been easier with the losses. They were so Naive then! Today, we lost a little one who was born and most likely wasn't supposed to make it full-term and lived for 16 hours. 16 beautiful hours. Her brothers were 4 lbs and she was 1lb.
They knew that despite all their efforts to help her, she may not make it. I watched my two teenage giant boys show her around the farm. In watched Colby show her the "spots on the farm she hadn't seen yet"--the kitchen, the peeper pond, the duck pool, his room--I heard Bryce say a prayer over the goat as she passed and help her mama goat Pumpkin say goodbye to her baby.
I hate this part of having a farm. I hate it. But I try to see the beauty in the pain and the boys growing up this way.
Thank you for always rooting for our farm on the good days and the bad days. 💔
