We made it into the Market Bulletin this month! Thanks for the love West Virginia Department of Agriculture, we love you back 🥰🥰

The October edition of the Market Bulletin has arrived! We take you to Middle Mountain Farmstead, where we talk to Jen Schleyer. She is a wife, mother, physical therapist, farmsteader, business owner, baker, chicken lady, goat wrangler, pig whisperer….and that’s just a few of the
hats she wears on a daily basis. We also pay a visit to Rosemary’s Pumpkins and Pines in Asbury, Greenbrier County to keep this pumpkin loving month moving along!

Alright, friends, I’m no professional pastry chef OR photographer (lol what am I even doing here?????) but I whipped up some oatmeal cream pies made with organic fresh milled flour + org rolled oats for this weekend!!!!

Soft, chewy cookie with a delightful vanilla buttercream - no dodgy ingredients, and a heck of a lot more delicious than anything you’ll find at the grocery store!

Come up and see us at the farm stand tomorrow! These will be available all weekend, until they sell out (read: pls don’t buy them all bc I want an excuse to enjoy them 😇)

This volunteer tomato is doing the MOST- giving us ripe tomatoes and self trellising!! This plant actually looks better than the ones I tended to this summer 🥹

We look forward to seeing you at WSS farmers market today from 2-6 in downtown White Sulphur Springs with our pastured pork and chicken, sourdough sandwich loaves and chocolate chip cookies!! 🍪

What’s something that used to wreck your day and now doesn’t phase you?

I’ll go first: power outages

I was prepping dinner (trying a new recipe - chorizo and potato soup!) after getting the baby down for a nap when the power went out. I don’t even think I flinched! I just kept chopping, feeling thankful to have a gas range and soup on the menu for tonight. It has definitely not always been this seamless!!!

In a perfect future world we are solar powered, but for now… we soup in the dark!

Thankfully, the power came back on after about 20 min but that is def not usually the case here😇

5 years ago, we inoculated these logs and stuck them in a shady hollow on our property. They are still fruiting!!!

It’s the best surprise to go for a walk and find a flush. - These are shiitakes.

What’s your fav way to use mushrooms?
