The next several days are predicted to be warm and dry- only to be followed by 3 days of rain. So I’ve got my head down weeding, planting and fertilizing 100s of plant starts. It’s a mad dash before the weather changes.

This is a lisianthus plant baby.
Every year I start about 100 of these in my basement grow room. They grow SUPER slowly so I plant the seeds just after Christmas.
A million things can happen to a plant that takes 6 months to grow large enough to plant outside- most my failures to get them to this stage has to do with carelessness: not enough water, too much water, sickness (I was sick in bed for three days back in April and nothing got watered during that time. I lost a bunch.)….
So this is one of 34 survivals out of the original 100 seeds I started back in December.
And now it’s time for her to find new life out in the flowers fields w all her sisters!
Can’t wait to see this little baby fulfill its destiny!

This is celosia( the “Flamingo” variety)
I’ve grown this successfully many times in other climates. But I have not been so successful here in MT. I always thought it was just too chilly here- at least in my little micro-climate.
But I figured I’d give it another shot w El Niño visiting this summer. It really is the most beautiful plant. Hopefully this will be the year!!!
