First blue egg laid today, I know it’s from Nettie! Guess I can’t call her and Mazie my babies anymore🥹 But still so fun to find such a pretty surprise in my coop🩵

August evenings have been pretty relaxing this week:) Vurple keeps trying to grow neck feathers but one of her sisters feels the need to keep plucking them back out, poor thing!

We’ve had 2 heat waves and days of poor air quality from Canadian fires. This morning was so pleasantly cool, I think the girls are enjoying coop time🥰

Mazie and Nettie are 8 wks old and it’s been 10 days since I started integrating them with the older hens. They have learned how to navigate the ramp from coop to run, eat and drink from same buckets as their sisters, basically learning the ropes. Everyone has to eat grower feed for a few weeks before transferring back to a lay feed, young chickens can’t handle too much calcium in their diet yet. Here’s a glimpse from this evening…
