We unfortunately had two separate fires this Harvest season. One was a field fire caused by a failed bearing in our Combine and extremely dry conditions. The second fire was in our corn dryer. Everything is Ok and the damage was all very Minor. I want to take a minute to acknowledge the local fire department’s for their fast response and very professional help. They helped contain two very scary situations. Thank you Whitehouse, Waterville, and Providence Fire Departments. We are fortunate as a community to have you!

And just like that, the 2024 harvest is over! It was impressive to see how much we could get done when there were practically no rain delays. Thanks to our families and friends for their support during this busy time!

Today we had a special opportunity to work with a local company from the Toledo area. We planted an heirloom variety of corn that was originally cultivated by the Native Americans. This will be used by the company as an ingredient in one of their products. Since it was only a small amount of seed, we had to be extra careful to measure the right amount.
Stay tuned for more details!

This week we added some drainage tile to a farm. It was originally tiled in the 1950’s with the pipes spaced 60ft apart. After some digging and measuring, we were able to “split” the original lines so the farm is now drained every 30ft. Drainage tile improves soil health and reduces surface runoff of water and nutrients.

Wheat harvest this year was short for us. We started yesterday and finished today. At least the dry weather is good for something!
