I came across a post from another local farm about bartering, and I absolutely LOVED the idea. It honestly made me stop and think... why don't we do more of this anymore?
So alright... I'm just gonna throw this out there because why not? 😂
Can we normalize bartering again?
Like... for real.
The world is expensive.
Farming is expensive.
Groceries are expensive.
Existing is expensive. 😅
And honestly? I think we've forgotten that sometimes the best currency isn't money—it's helping each other.
So here's my thought...
If you've got a skill, some extra time, equipment, supplies, or just like getting your hands dirty, and I have something you need... let's make a deal.
I'm open to just about anything.
Need homemade bread? I got you.
Fresh baked goodies? Absolutely.
Eggs? Yep.
Produce when the garden decides to cooperate? Hopefully. 😂
Hay? We can do that.
Need tractor work done? Zack can probably help.
Want livestock? We may have a few animals we'd be willing to barter too.
Honestly... if we have it, make it, grow it, bake it, or can do it, ask! The worst I can say is no.
Now... here's where I could use some help.
🌱 My garden and the weeds are currently in an intense competition, and let's just say... the weeds are winning by a landslide.
🐓 Farm chores. Feeding, cleaning, mucking pens... all the glamorous farm jobs.
🛠 Random projects that have been sitting on my "I'll get to it this weekend" list for approximately... forever.
📦 Organizing. Because apparently I have a special talent for starting twelve projects at once.
🌼 Yard work, landscaping, trimming... making this place look like people actually live here instead of a family of slightly feral raccoons.
🚜 Equipment work, fencing, building... if you're handy, I'm probably interested.
I have five amazing boys, and they really do help... but they're also five boys. 😂
Sometimes a 10-minute job somehow turns into an hour because someone found a frog, someone is sword fighting with sticks, someone is hungry, and someone suddenly needs to tell me an entire Minecraft story before we can continue.
I could definitely use a few adult-sized helpers every now and then.
So if you've been wanting homemade goodies, fresh eggs, hay, produce, livestock, tractor work, or something else we have... shoot me a message!
Maybe you've got a skid steer and I have a backhoe.
Maybe you've got a green thumb and want chickens.
Maybe you need hay and don't mind pulling weeds. Maybe you just think bringing bartering back sounds kind of awesome.
Let's help each other out.
I miss the days when neighbors traded what they had instead of worrying about what they didn't.
Let's bring a little bit of that back. ❤️
