It’s been a busy few weeks for our sheep. Some participated in the Arkansas 4-H Livestock State Judging Contest (congrats future stars! 🏆), some got time in the AMERICAN DORPER SHEEP BREEDERS' SOCIETY Duncan show ring and have moved to new places (thanks to everyone who planned, coordinated, served, showed, and participated), and some are enjoying pats in the pasture when the Little Shepherd pulls in the driveway from school.

Benton County 4-H - Arkansas Izard County STEM School Board, volunteers, consignors, bidders, and everyone who pitches in, serves, and helps in the often unseen ways that make the national show & sale a success!

Barn cat logic: Do Dorper lambs like heat lamps when temps are below freezing? Sure.
Do they *need* this spot? Nope. Not today. Especially when the owners are here. Besides, the lambs like showing off their zoomies when the owners are watching, so I’ll just snuggle down and keep this spot warm til the lambs come and take it back. I’m actually part of the team and am doing everyone a favor.

Practicing for Houston. Overhearing her coaching convo with her ewe was precious and priceless: “Don’t be scared, it’s just a kitty cat….Yep, there you go! That’s great!”
Hearing this kindergartener confidently & happily guide her 4-legged friend, practicing together for a competitive weekend, was a great reminder that we do this for more than banners, buckles or bragging rights. ?
