Last Saturday, Mi Sueño had the privilege of preparing this reception at Grace Hill Winery for a family gathering to celebrate the life of someone very special to them.

For evenings like this, we think food should simply do what it has always done — bring people together around a table.

We created a relaxed grazing-style reception with plenty of small bites, charcuterie, sandwiches, warm appetizers and desserts for family and friends to enjoy throughout the evening.

Thank you to the Weebee family for trusting Mi Sueño to be a small part of such an important day, and to Grace Hill Winery for once again allowing us to create in such a beautiful space.

Friday night at the Barrel Room by Grace Hill Winery

33 guests, five courses and another menu I had never made before.

Some things worked exactly the way I saw them in my head. Some things changed once I got into the kitchen. And those tiny blooming onions? 😂 I told everyone Friday night that once they were battered and fried, there wasn’t much “blooming onion” left to recognize. That one may not make a return appearance.

But that is also part of what I love about these dinners. I don’t want to keep making the same food. I want to try things, change things, work with flavors that interest me and see where they go.

And apparently you all are enjoying coming along for the ride, because we have some news…

The September Barrel Room Wine Dinner will be TWO nights — Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26.

Same five-course menu both evenings, paired with Grace Hill wines.

Grace Hill has already posted the September menu, and tickets are now available. I am really excited about this one. We’re moving into early fall, and the food is going with us.

We are now three weeks into harvest season at Grace Hill Winery .

For the third year, Mi Sueño is providing the Saturday harvest lunches, feeding everyone who comes out to spend the morning in the vineyard helping to bring in the grapes.🍇

Each week we put together a different buffet, and so far this season we’ve served everything from slow roasted meats and chicken to fresh summer salads, rice, seasonal sides and a few desserts along the way.

We are inside the winery during harvest mornings getting lunch ready, so it’s great to have some of these photos from Grace Hill that show what is actually happening outside.

There are still several weeks to go, and plenty more food to come.

Always grateful for our continued partnership with Grace Hill and the opportunity to be part of another harvest season.

18 years is something worth celebrating. 🍷

We were so happy to be a small part of Grace Hill Winery 18th Anniversary Celebration this summer.

Over the past few years, Grace Hill has become much more than a place where we host wine dinners. It has become one of those partnerships that gives me the opportunity to keep creating, trying new things, and putting Food Without Boundaries on the table.

For their anniversary celebration, we created four different cupcakes especially for the day — including one made with their Grace Hill Blackout wine.

Congratulations to everyone at Grace Hill on 18 years of wine, friends, family, and memories. We’re grateful to be a part of the journey and looking forward to what comes next. 🍷

A brunch built around the quince girl. 💗

When we first started planning Arelia Reign Rowlands’ quinceañera, her family knew she wanted brunch — but Arelia had a few very specific favorites.

Pancakes. Turkey bacon & sausage. Breakfast potatoes. Eggs. Fruit. And everything needed to be gluten-free.

So that became our starting point.

We built her brunch around a gluten-free pancake display with toppings, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, turkey bacon and sausage, fresh fruit, strawberries and cream, and all the little extras that turned a breakfast buffet into something worthy of a quinceañera.

And because presentation matters just as much to me as what is on the plate, we stayed to set and style everything and make sure Arelia’s buffet looked like it belonged at her celebration.

Happy Quinceañera, Arelia!
