This Sunday marks one year since my daughter was shot in her head and shoulder and I was told there was no survival rate for her injuries. That her injuries were so significant that 100% of people die from injuries like hers. Sunday marks one year that changed our lives forever. Now one year later here we are adjusting as good as we can to our new normal. Truly blessed that we still have Jenyaih here with us.
I asked Jenyaih what she wants to do for the one year anniversary from the day she almost lost her life. She said she wants to go up to the hospital to meet the nurses and doctors that saved her life so I scheduled that for this Sunday at 9:30am. The doctor who overseen Jenyaih will also be there. He was 100% sure that Jenyaih would succumb from her injuries. When he seen I was not giving up on my daughter and I was going to fight with every part of me to get her the proper care she needed to survive, he stepped his profession up to another level.
So Jenyaih asked for 3 things she wants to do this weekend for her one year anniversary.
#1- Go to the hospital and meet the nurses and doctors.
#2- Feed the homeless
(Because she always loved to do this even before this incident occurred)
#3- Rent a hotel for the weekend so she can go swimming with her son.
(She has been asking to do this for awhile now and considering our current situation this would be a blessing to have a weekend getaway from our current situation with no electricity)
I want to grant her every wish this weekend because she truly deserves it and deserves to be happy so I am coming to ask you all for your help. If you would like to donate food so she can feed the homeless and/or money for a hotel stay for her this weekend so she can go swimming with her son, I am posting my cashapp again.

Today I am selling meatloaf dinners again to fundraise. As most of you know my daughter was an innocent victim of gun violence on May 3rd. She was shot in her head and shoulder. By God's amazing grace she survived her injuries and continues to thrive each day. It has been almost a year since this happened to her and during this year we have shared so many tears, laughs, cheers, and accomplishments but during this year we have also suffered tremendously financially. I have been off of work since this happened to her. I have been by her side every step of the way and 100% focused on making sure she received the proper care she needed to have a promising future. We have went from being in the sicu at Via Christi St. Francis for 3 weeks to being in the select specialty hospital for a month and then continued our journey to Madonna rehabilitation hospital in Nebraska. She has been home from Madonna since August but she still was in need of so much care. When we first brought her home she was still in a wheelchair and using a sit to stand lift. She needed 24hr care and full assistance with ADL's. It has been almost a year now and my daughter has made tremendous progress and continues to thrive. I am finally at a comfortable place with her to where I feel it is time to try to go back to work. I am going back to work in the healthcare field at the end of April part time evenings as a trial to see how this may affect my daughter. Hopefully all goes well and I'll be back to full time. We have came around again to where we have hit a hard spot. They say it gets worse before it gets better and I am a strong believer of that as I am a witness to it. We have fallen behind on rent and a couple of utility bills. Although my husband has continued to work long weeks to provide and try to maintain a roof over our head and food on our table, we have still hit bumps in the road. It definitely has been a treacherous road for us but we continue our faith in God and continue to fight through. We have also had some amazing people who have supported us through these times and we absolutely truly appreciate them. A lot of you have been supportive by buying dinners in the past and donating. I can't express how much you are absolutely and truly appreciated.

This Sunday I will be selling dinners to fundraise. I haven't done this in awhile because someone turned me into the KDA for selling dinners from home even though it was to fundraise money to help support my daughter. Now KDA did give me permission to continue to fundraise under the license exemption K.S.A. § 65-689(d)(7). However I took a break fundraising because I didn't want to step on anyone's toes.
This weekend though we are in definite need of fundraising money. As some of you may know my daughter was an innocent victim of gun violence on May 3rd. She survived a gun shot wound to the head but is now left with a severe TBI. Since this has happened to her I have been unable to work since I have became her caregiver and also taking care of her 2yr old son. With my husband being the only one able to work it has been difficult to keep up with rent and bills. Two days ago I received a 3 day notice from our landlord. We are a month behind on rent. I can't imagine rerouting our lives with our daughter whom has a severe TBI. We have tried to reach out for rental assistance but no one has the funds. I should be getting paid as my daughter's caregiver but because the insurance company has made a couple mistakes she still isn't getting the proper assistance she needs. She has needed to be on the brain injury waiver for her to get the specialized therapies she needs and so I could get paid to be her caregiver. We just found out yesterday that she is FINALLY on the brain injury waiver but getting paid to be her caregiver is a process. I have reached out to the Victim's compensation and they still haven't processed her application and Social Security still hasn't either. Now before this happened to my daughter she was very independent and worked as a housekeeper at a medical clinic and was in the process of obtaining her CNA. She also wanted and still wants to be a pediatric nurse. Sadly her independence was ripped from her and we have been financially supporting all her needs as well as her sons. It has been a struggle with only one income. My husband works so hard to maintain what we have but it just isn't enough. We are really really good loving people that have always helped others in need. Something very terrible happened to our family and now we are the ones in need. It is hard for me to reach out for help as I have always been able to provide for my family.
So this Sunday we are fundraising to help keep us in our home. This Sunday from 2pm to 7pm we will be selling dinners.

Ok everyone starting next weekend I will be selling tamales. I also will have a dessert tamale I will be making this year. I am selling them for $25 a dozen. Now before anyone says"$25 is a lot for tamales." Let me explain why they are worth $25. All who has ordered from me in the past knows I stuff mine with meat. Like really stuff. Also the cost of food has went up and let's not forget about how much work it takes making tamales. Ok with that being said here are the options of tamales I will be making.

I haven't sold dinners in a couple of weeks because we have been dealing with a lot with our daughter. However, this Sunday we will be selling dinners. I will be posting the menu here shortly so stay tuned if you are interested in ordering. We absolutely appreciate all of your ongoing support during this time. Although our daughter has made amazing progress she still has a long road ahead. Dealing with someone who has a severe TBI is a constant roller coaster with some days better than others. We do appreciate all your support and continued prayers as she continues her journey to recovery. I thought it would be nice to share some videos of our daughter with you all.
