Some breweries are built around recipes.
Others are built around history.
Blood Orchard Brewing Co. was built on 155 years of family legacy.
The Blood family first settled this land in 1871, and by the late 1800s the family had established what would become one of the most well-known orchards in Kansas. Southern Wichita was once known as the Peach Capital of the World, and Blood Orchard was one of the area’s crown jewels.
The brewery itself sits inside the family’s original country store, a building dating back to 1885 that has remained in the Blood family for four generations. Walking inside feels like stepping back into Kansas history, where every wall has a story to tell.
Like many family farms, Blood Orchard faced heartbreaking challenges.
In the 1980s, saltwater contamination from nearby oil production destroyed the orchard’s peach trees, ending more than a century of fruit production. What had been one of Kansas’ iconic orchards was suddenly gone.
But the story didn’t end there.
In 2015, fifth-generation owners Jeff and Jessica Blood began bringing the orchard back to life. They replanted peaches on the same ground their ancestors farmed, eventually adding apples, cherries, sand plums, and even chestnut trees. Today, the orchard has grown to more than 5,000 fruit trees, all planted on the same historic family land.
Jeff and Jessica didn’t stop with fruit.
In 2024 they opened Blood Orchard Brewing Co., becoming Sedgwick County’s first on-farm microbrewery. Their vision was simple: create beers and hard seltzers using ingredients grown right on their own farm. Honey from orchard bees, apples from their trees, peaches, cherries, and other homegrown fruit all become part of the brewing process.
Jessica also transformed the historic general store into the popular reBorn Boutique & Marketplace, which hosts monthly Vintage Markets, local vendors, food trucks, and community events that have become a destination for families throughout the Wichita area.
One thing we absolutely loved was how personal everything feels.
This isn’t a corporate brewery.
It’s Jeff and Jessica sharing generations of family history one pint at a time.

You’re becoming part of a story that began more than 150 years ago.
And that’s pretty special.
