Pride Bash is only 11 days away on Saturday June 13th! We are so excited to welcome Manda Battlestations as our host for The Sound of Pride Music Bingo. Here is a chance to learn a little more about Manda:
White Crow was the very first place that handed Manda a microphone and said, "Break a leg, girl."
Before the bingos, the shame bell, and the “lip syncs,” White Crow gave me a chance. They needed a bitchy bingo host and asked me to do it. I said, “Only if I can do it in drag.” ✨I hadn’t even been in drag before!✨ But, the rest is history.
One of the reasons I love working with White Crow is that they don't treat inclusion like a seasonal promotion. They have spent years creating a space where LGBTQ+ people, allies, artists, performers, and community groups are genuinely welcomed and celebrated. You see it in the events they host. You see it in the people they support. You see it in the customers who walk through the door and know they can simply be themselves. They BUILD community, not just talk about it.
I'm so excited for this year's Disco Pride Bash on June 13!! White Crow and Q***r Beers are putting together an entire day dedicated to joy, connection, and BIG GAY ENERGY. Brunch, Pride cocktails, vendors, food trucks, dancing, roller derby, and disco!? Wichita will have rainbow hue radiating for the remainder of June.
I'll be hosting The Sound of Pride Music Bingo! We'll be daubing while singing along to artists that have held up our community as one to celebrate, not one to ridicule, shun, or exploit. “I just need Lady Gaga!” Same, bitch. Same.
Pride is important because it reminds us that visibility matters. Community matters. Safe spaces matter.
White Crow has been helping create those spaces for a while now. I'm honored to be a small part of that ecosystem.
Gather your favorite people, slap on a rainbow and some sequins, and come celebrate!!
