We believe the outside of a calf is good for the inside of a kid. We also believe stock show kids need chapter books that they are interested in that are written for, by, and about real deal livestock families.

On our SteerBidder sale on 10/18 we’re selling lots of good cattle AND the FIRST copy of Fit to a Tee. The first one. Numero uno. #1

And yes, that’s a big, soggy In God We Trust steer on the cover, Rodgers Cattle Company/Bulls.

About the book: Eight-year-old Tee has waited his whole life to be old enough to show a steer of his own. When his grandma trades him Alvin for working on the family ranch, Tee is ready to work. From early mornings to his first jackpot show and the county fair, Tee discovers there’s a lot more to showing cattle than leading one into the ring—and sometimes success comes in unusual packages. After the county fair, Tee isn’t finished, and neither is Alvin. With the state fair ahead, Tee takes what went wrong and gets back to work, learning to pay attention to his steer, trust what he knows, and keep going when things don’t turn out the way he hoped. Fit to a Tee is a story about cattle, family, growing up, and the lessons that can only be taught in the show barn.
