Well, yall know Zack is the "Contractor" part of this co-owned horse business, but what does Jess do? I'm the "Grounds-Keeper" apparently. Well, of course the resident "Horse Trainer" too, but thats just fun! Oh and also "Camera Lady".

What a blessing, to have the flexibility for weekday trail ride dates! God is beyond good.

Can you catch what Mira does when I take a deep breath?

Finally got to try night-time turnout, and the girls love it! 14 hours of cool, bug-free grazing. Plus they beat me to the barn every morning! How are you keeping your pets, and livestock cool?

Barn rehaul progress! Wrapped up the run-in side, pulled down old lights, and gutted the opposite walls, shelves, and rotted sill. Now to shave down the messy concrete ridge. Zack is crushing it!!

We filled a large hole last November using excavated topsoil from our corral, fenced it off for the winter so it could settle. We are absolutely loving the flexibility of electric fencing with step-in posts and reels! This spring, we had the rocks removed and re-seeded it, and this week it was finally ready to let the horses back onto it! Thank you Earth Movers Excavation Inc. PS Horse Friends - Our girls are used to lush pasture right now.

This morning was my fourth time bareback-pad riding Mira, and she's doing great! She moves right over to me for mounting. We are working towards her following my body and leg, and only using reins as a back-up. Mixing in some ball play to keep it fun!

🎶 Jars of Clay "Love Song For A Savior"

We adopted Mira at 2 years old, and she just turned 5. She was rescued from a Texas slaughter yard at 6 months and did not begin training, aside from being halter broke, until we bought her.

After a long day of building our horse dream from the ground up, nothing beats winding down on the couch with Ginger, a good snack, and my old school Parelli DVD's.

Story: I got these level programs in 2007. I was attending UCONN as a student at the time, and the Ag program was giving out free tickets to a Parelli clinic. I had owned my horse for 7 years, and had never heard of natural horsemanship. I had actually qualified for Sport Horse Nationals that year and my horse tore her suspensory ligament weeks before which devestated me. But God always works things out for the good of those who love him. So I couldn't ride for months, and had time to attend the clinic. It completely turned my world upside down with horses. I cried multiple times during it, realizing there is so much more to horses than riding and winning prizes. Now understanding horses is a life long venture. Still thanking God for putting me in the right life circumstances, to open my mind up, to see how incredible having a deep meaningful relationship with horses truly can be!
