🌾 Exciting News from Far Country Farm! 🌾

We have two wonderful updates to share with our amazing community!

First, on August 28th, we moved 60 of our meat chicks from the brooder to the pasture. These little ones are now spreading their wings and exploring the wider world, growing strong and healthy. In just 5 weeks, they will be ready for purchase, providing your family with delicious, farm-fresh chicken.

In a delightful twist of fate, the same day also marked the arrival of the newest member of our farm family, a beautiful baby boy named Valor. Just like our chicks, Valor has moved from his cozy “brooder” into the wider world, bringing immense joy to our hearts. Both mom and baby are doing well, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome Valor into our lives.

It's spring time in Oklahoma! For us that means planting the garden getting things fixed...and most cutely, baby animals!

We have a lots of babies around the farm right now! From little piggies and chicks, to several kids (both the 2 and 4 legged kind!).

The little piglets love their rotating forest home. With lots of shade, nuts, mushrooms and just about everything else a pig loves they are growing quickly!

We got a new batch of meat chicks in and have revamped our chicken tractors. (We call their mobile coops "chicken tractors") Instead of one big tractor we have 2 smaller ones which makes turning and avoiding obstacles much easier.

We also just had 4 new kids (baby goats) born. 2 boys and 2 girls! Their names are Peter, Edmund, Susan, and Lucy. You get a high five if you know where those names are from! (Throw your guess as a reply!) This means we once again have goat milk! With 3 does in milk we are going to be trying all sorts of new stuff this year. Goat cheese, goat milk soap, goat milk lotions/balms, etc.

If you're interested in some high-quality pasture raised chicken or coming out to the place and seeing all the cute animals, reach out and we can make something happen!

Sorry for the lack of updates everyone! It has been crazy busy here! A few of the changes/projects we have been working on are:

We got a boar for our American Genni Hog ladies, so look for some posts about little piggies in about 3-4 months!

We poured a pad for our walk-in freezer to go on.

We have switched our goat ladies to a fully non-GMO supplemental feed!

We have continued to move the chicks daily to new grass, keeping them healthy and happy. It's hard to believe that the chicken in the photo was just a fluffy yellow chick 7 weeks ago and there is only about a week left before they are table-ready!

Speaking of the last note, our planned place to rent a chicken plucker set-up has fallen through at the last minute! If anyone knows someone with a plucker (and dunker if possible) please have them reach out to us! We would love to discuss renting it from them!

We hope you all had a great Veterans Day!

If you would like more information about any of the projects above and what we are currently offering please reach out, and we hope to share more in the future!
