Gimli: “But mom, i really want that feed!”
Me: you’re cute, but not risking bloat cute!

Whew what a week it is! We are knee deep in VBS, and the two baseball games of the season for our boy. So I am living on coffee and prayers at this point. But hey, we’ve made it to Wednesday right?!

How’s your week going?

Hard to believe that Littlefoot and Petry are two weeks old already! Their little tag along ducklings stick right with them like moths to flame. You would think they were a rock band and the ducklings were their groupies. 🤣🎸🤘

What odd friendships have you seen on your farm?

It was a tough day to be a boy on our farm today. Harley and Wally two of petunias piglets were castrated today in preparation for their new homes, and we finally decided to band Cricket and Frankie while at it. As much as I wanted to keep the kids intact, I did not want any cross breeding with anyone they are related to. Cricket handled it well, while Frankie being older was a bit more difficult to get done. I’m glad it’s over. It’s not my favorite thing on the farm that’s for sure, but it’s the responsible thing to do. And I’m glad to be able to provide that option for our customers.

This will possibly put up back again on our progress with Harley, so I’m glad I got this video beforehand. He’s come along so far in just one week.

Evening bottle feeding chaos.

Draco is now 5 weeks old and loves to get after bottle cuddles. And after this week, I’ll take all the cuddles I can get. I just have to wear him down til the milk coma sets in 🤣

And then we are down to two goslings. Littlefoot and Petry have adopted three little ducklings as their new friends. The silver Swedish will be staying, but the blue Swedish and Rouen cross will be available. Also, I have a ton of pure blue Swedish in the grow out pen ready for their forever homes, if you are looking, I’ve got them!

As for our wonderful ambience, It’s not always nice and quiet here on the farm, sometimes it’s hungry pigs begging for their supper 🤣🫣🤣

Supper time piglets ASMR. Hard to believe are only 3 weeks away from them leaving to their forever homes! Harley the little black and white fella has finally came around and knows I mean him no harm for the most part. I even got a pet in without food involved so that’s a big step in the right direction 💪.

Quick bottle sesh before the rain with Draco ended up with two thriving Emu’s once again. Dobbie loves to pretend to eat my freckles, while Disco decided I needed a good camera clean up. 🤣

This boy is such a love bug! Ol wally never misses out out a chance on lovins that’s for sure.

What I absolutely find interesting is his beautiful white coat is starting to turn ginger in places. He now looks like a creamsicle in places. So would he be considered a tri now? Or still white/brownike originally though? Inquiring minds want to know 😊

Littlefoot sure loved her time out in the grass today. I think all the babies did, considering it was such a pretty day to be outside. And it was a very busy day at that! Lots of great visitors came by for babies of all varieties. Both of Paisleys piglets headed to their new homes, 5 goslings and 9 brahma chicks also left the farm too. We microchipped and mucked out stalls in meantime.

I like Saturdays like this. Ones where you look back and can see productivity and the fruits of our labours. The ones that make you remember that there’s a reason you do all this. That was today for me.

Did you do anything productive today? I wanna hear about it!

The goslings got a supervised leg stretching and a full bowl of fresh water. 💗

The two we are keeping will be called Littlefoot and Petrie to continue our dinosaur and dragon themes. I still need good names for the new adults and two older goslings, but it’s a start!
