Molting is the natural, annual shedding and regrowth of feathers. Birds do it to replace worn feathers and keep their plumage insulating and waterproof.
This is Kimmer (named after my bestie 😉) and because she is white you can really see the growth of her new feathers over the last 2 weeks. She will be ready for winter!

These cute little ladies are new members of the chicken layer team and will boost our egg production in the spring. We feed them eggs because the extra protein helps grow feathers and, well… everything!
These eggs were laid by our youngest ducks. They’re too small to sell so this is the perfect way to use them.

October greenhouse update:
Green beans are still producing even though they were planted way back in April!
The tomato house is… well, a tunnel of delicious. There are heirlooms and slicers behind these grape tomatoes that are cranking out fruit!
Lettuce, spinach and kale planted for fall/winter greens 🤞

And gift boxes for anyone doing actual Christmas in October shopping. We have so many customers and friends in Fishers… Hope to see some of you!

I felt someone watching me as I was picking green beans and to my delight, found this toad! His presence is sign that our greenhouse ecosystems are healthy and thriving!
