The Sunizona Family Transplanted Farmers

The Sunizona Family Transplanted Farmers The Transplanted Farmers-
We used to be your local AZ FlavorCrate farmers. Now we are transplanted to The FarmBox helps make these goals a reality.

The Farmbox is an easy way for you to get local certified organic fresh fruits and vegetables grown on our farm plus a lot more! We have a sprouted grain bakery on our farm that makes amazing ancient grain breads, pies, and other desserts. The farmbox is also your source for an ever-increasing supply of organic groceries. We believe that there should be a strong connection between the farm (and th

e farmers too, of course!) and the other members of the community. You should have the confidence of knowing where your food is grown and who grows it. From our side, we want you to know that each member of our team is a real person, with a real life story and growing food can be hard work. When we started the Farmbox it made our team members feel like their work counted. We wish you could see how meaningful it makes their job to know that they are growing real food for real people—not some faceless broker! We also know that many of you in our community believe that it is important for farms to treat their employees fairly, to work for improved sustainability and care for the environment. We want to know that if we take extra efforts to do those things that our customers value it—even if there isn’t a direct financial reward. By ordering fresh local produce directly from us, without brokers, distributors, wholesalers, or retailers between us, farming can be more sustainable and empowering for our whole team. It is also more empowering for you: you can let us know what is important to you and we can feel the challenge and satisfaction of meeting your expectations. You don’t have to sign up as a FarmBox member to be a fan of our page. We only hope you’re willing to ask questions about how food is grown—and how it should be grown—and the complete consequences of the different farming practices
If you are interested in the FarmBox, feel free to visit our website at www.sunizonafamilyfarms.com or email us at [email protected]) with questions.

Well, admittedly, the mechanics of the photo could be!...
But the candid shot of Kathy giving Dalyce a box of One Degree’s organic cornflakes made from the organic corn the Brewins grew on their land -
To me - that’s a perfect picture👍

What do a bird sanctuary and an organic corn field have in common?
Roy Brewin.
His certified organic corn fields border a bird sanctuary and so his corn patch provides a sheltering home to pheasants, partridge, deer and many other creatures.
I like that👍

Peek a boo!
I caught Alonna admiring the corn in Roy’s organic corn patch.
The corn may be taller than her - but her heart to give people good food definitely matches the the stature of this beautiful certified organic non GMO corn.

The largeness of Roy’s corn fields set against the endless blue Alberta sky was impressive. But what impressed me the most was the largeness of commitment that it takes to do organic farming.....when using chemicals and pesticides would make it so much “easier”...

Mud on my boots = Connection

As I scrubbed the mud off my boots before packing them into my suitcase I marveled that no matter where I go - dirt means so much to me.
Just knowing my boots got muddy while I tromped the fields with Rainer and his Schalk Muehle farmers gave me a contented feeling of connection.

Satisfied.... That’s how I felt after talking to Daniel yesterday.
I’d called him to talk about their organic quinoa and as we talked of the quinoa crops, farming practices and the incredible quality control measures that Villa Andina carries out - I was struck with how special it was that I had actually been to Peru and met some of the great farm families that he works with. I walked on their fields high in the mountains to see their beautiful crops and heard their stories firsthand. How awesome is that?!

Never underestimate the power of a good example.
In 1995 Manfred attended a lecture by a pioneer in organic farming. At that time very few Austrian farmers were growing organically, but he was so impressed by what he heard that he decided to go all in - to risk it all - and transition the family farm to organic growing practices.
As I stood in his pumpkin patch and listened to him tell his story to our camera, I realized that it’s farmers like him that are at the very heart of our One Degree products. Go Manfred! We love your pursuit of excellence!

Who are we? ..business associates, friends, colleagues, companions, buddies, fellow travelers...?
Whichever title we assume, I know one thing for certain, we had a fabulous week in Austria with Rainer. Visiting our organic Styrian pumpkin seed farmers, eating their seeds, walking their land, and hearing them talk of the dreams they have for their farms was a grand privilege.
It felt so good to connect.
